Greene Central Schools Blessings in a Backpack Feeding Program
The Greene Central School in partnership with the Zion Episcopal Church are in their eighth year participating in the nationally recognized, Blessings in a Backpack feeding program. This is a unique program designed to feed our school children, universal kindergarten through the twelfth grade, who are at risk of having little or no food on the weekends. Greene Central School is a high needs district. Most do not realize that approximately 50% of our school children qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Price Meal Program.
G.C.S. Students participated in All-County Music Festivals
Every year our Chenango County music teachers host two festivals: the Winter Festival (in January), and the Spring Festival (in March). We rotate the host school, and hold auditions in the fall at Bainbridge-Guilford. These festivals showcase the top students in each district, and after hours of rehearsal, each festival culminates in a concert.

Participants in the Elementary Chorus, Elementary Band, Jr. Band, and Jr. Chorus are in grades 5-8. These students were placed by teacher recommendation.

Participants in the Swing Choir, Senior Chorus and Senior Band are in grades 9-12 and auditioned for placement in the fall.

The Greene Trobotics Club Participated in the RoboRave New York
The Greene Trobotics Club sent eight students on five teams to RoboRave New York in Oxford where 53 teams competed in the competition.    All students had some very valuable learning experiences between practice on Friday evening and the competition on Saturday.  Not all of them happened in the competition arena. We had an opportunity to interact with students from France and a Colombian contingent that hailed from Toronto, Canada.

Earn Cash for Our School Box Tops For Education to Support Our School

Did you know that every Boxtop equals a dime? That’s right! When you clip a Boxtop and send it in with your child, our school earns 10 cents.

Here in Greene three buildings use this program to raise funds. For example, the middle school uses the money for student breakfasts during the state ELA and math assessments
