For anyone who hasn't had the opportunity to meet her, our Primary School Principal and new Athletics Director is January Pratt.
January has been in the Greene community for years, and continues to step up to the plate in leadership roles throughout the district. She wanted to take this opportunity to introduce herself to you!
"Hello Greene Community!
For those of you who do not know me I am January Pratt, the Primary School Principal. February 1st will be the start of my 7th year in Greene! Over the years, I have seen and met many of you at Morning Program, Open House, STEAM Nights, games, and other community events.
Before coming to Greene, I worked for 15 years as a teacher in Newark Valley. I commute to Greene from Owego each day. I live in Owego with my husband and daughter. I also have two older sons who grew up too quickly. Another fact that might surprise some of you is that I am a grandma too! Outside of school you might find me at the gym, hiking in the woods, skiing, cooking meals for my family, kayaking or doing one of many other fun activities life has to offer. I love to be outdoors and to live life to its fullest.
There is never a boring day when you are a principal. What other job starts with hugs, high fives and stories from the evening or weekend before and often ends with happy but tired kids who have worked hard to “Go for the Gold” all day? I believe it is my job to make sure all students are safe and cared for while they are in school so they can learn and make memories. I also believe it is my job to be a positive role model for any student young and old. I feel very fortunate to have been able to be with so many of your children as they have started their school career. I truly love my job and love working in Greene!"
