December was filled with interdisciplinary connections when the ninth graders visited the Roberson Museum.
Students participated in a scavenger hunt as they explored the International Forest–a collection of adorned trees and displays that represent the holiday traditions of cultures from around the world. They learned about the four seasons and the winter solstice during the “Season of Light” planetarium show. Students also made “calling cards” and learned about social etiquette during heir tour of the mansion. English and art combined when students viewed the “Placid Thoughts” exhibit and got to meet Anna Warfield, the local artist. Anna discussed the manipulation of fabric and use of words in her creative process.
This trip was sponsored by the Arts in Education program at GCS.
