Important Information Regarding Student Safety

Trojans Community-

As you may be aware, some local school districts in Broome County implemented a lockout (not a lockdown) over a concern existing outside of their school buildings. At approximately 12:05 p.m. the Greene CSD district office was notified of a law enforcement issue regarding an individual in Broome County. We immediately alerted our SRO’s and contacted the Greene Police, County Sheriff, and State Police. The State police stated that the threat was not to the community and did not currently involve Greene or Chenango County.

As our students and staff safety is always our top priority, we immediately communicated this information to staff. To maximize student safety, our administrative team acted swiftly with a proactive approach to limit high school and middle school classes that would require movement to and from our campus during the afternoon. While we did not initiate a district-wide lockout, we ensured that our students were kept safely on campus. We also arranged for our SRO’s and the Village of Greene Police to be at each of our campuses during dismissal. This was done out of abundance of caution.

Since that time, we have received confirmation that the suspect in question is now in the custody of law enforcement, and no further measures are necessary. As always, we appreciate your continued cooperation and understanding as we work together to keep our community of learners safe. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Timothy Calice
