News and Information
Sports Physicals:
- Dr. Masarech will be in school performing sports physicals for the 2026-2027 school year.
Many athletes had physicals done at the end of the school year or with their primary physician. These physicals are valid for one year. - If a physical has not been completed, Dr. Masarech will be at the high school Thursday, August 13 beginning at 11:00 performing sports physicals.
- Student athletes must be registered in Final Forms with all forms completed prior to receiving a physical.
- Greene will continue to use Final Forms for all athletic registrations. The registration window will open 30 days before the start of each athletic season. Parents must register their athlete and all health history forms must be completed and signed each season.
- Please register and follow the prompts to create your account, register your student/child(ren) and sign your forms. The registration can also be found on our athlete page. If you require any support during the process, scroll to the page bottom-right and click Get Help.
Important notice to parents/guardians trying to utilize Aktivate, formerly known as ScheduleGalaxy on their smartphones:
- If users have an Apple device, you can download the ScheduleGalaxy mobile app from the Apple App Store.
- If a user has an Android device, they will need to continue to use the website on their mobile device browser. There is a link to Aktivate on our Greene Central School, Athletics Department page that you can use to access the website on your Android device’s browser. You will not need a special code to access the sport and level that you would like to see.
- Although the decision to not have an app for Android phones is not a district decision, we apologize for the inconvenience to those who do not have access to the smartphone app.

Thank you for your interest in the Greene Central School District athletic program. In order to provide quality coaches for secondary school athletes, New York State has established standards required of all coaches, volunteer and paid. All costs associated with obtaining coaching certifications is the responsibility of the coach.
Handbook for Non-Teacher Coaches
Non-certified teachers must complete the following to coach in New York State:
- Fingerprinting processed through MorphTrust with clearance through NYS Education Department.
- Current first aid certification
- NYSED approved courses (July 2025)
- Child Abuse Course.
- Available through NYS Office of Child & Family Services (no cost on-line course). Note: New Program required by April 2025 - 2nd update required if applying for licensure or by Oct. 2026 (whichever comes first)
- Child Abuse Workshop
- Child Abuse Workshop Through Binghamton University
- Violence Prevention & Intervention (SAVE) workshop.
- Concussion Awareness & Management
- Dignity for All Students Certification (DASA)
- Completed Temporary Coaches license.
- Done through NYS TEACH. Renewed annually.
- NYS Coaching Certification Classes
- Have 5 years from 1st appointment to complete courses as outlined below:
- Completion of Philosophy, Principles, and Organization of Athletics in Education course prior to 1st renewal of Coaching License. Available through Cortland (on-line courses) or Customizable Professional (choose NYS Coaching Courses under course categories)
- Complete Health Science Applied to Coaching and the Theory and Techniques of Coaching (sport specific) course within five (5) years of initial appointment. Available through Cortland (on-line courses) or Customizable Professional (choose NYS Coaching Courses under course categories)
- OR complete NFHS approved course track. NYS NFHS document
- Have 5 years from 1st appointment to complete courses as outlined below:
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest Workshops
Certified Teacher Coaches, School Leaders or Pupil Personnel Service providers must complete the following to coach in New York State:
- Fingerprinting processed through MorphTrust with clearance through NYS Education Department.
- Current CPR/AED & First Aid certification
- NYSED approved courses (July 2025)
- Concussion Awareness & Management
- Child Abuse Course
- NYS Office of Child & Family Services (Note: New Program required by April 2025 - 2nd update required if applying for licensure or by Oct. 2026
In addition, Non-Physical Education Teachers must complete:
- NYS Coaching Certification Classes
- Within 5 years from 1st appointment to complete courses as outlined below:
