To Class of 2020 Graduates & Families:As most of you know, we have been working diligently
on several possible scenarios for Graduation.
We all want to honor our graduates as much as possible and our first
priority has and will always be an in-person graduation.
However, as of this date, the Governor’s directives
remain clear on prohibiting large non-essential public gatherings. He has also clearly deemed graduation
ceremonies as non-essential. We had hoped this would have changed by now, but as
of now these restrictions have not been lifted or modified. We hope new
guidance will come out soon. However, until then we need to move forward to
make sure we have plans in place for our seniors. We will be creating a graduation video that
can be used as a virtual graduation ceremony or as an amazing keep sake as our
first step. IF the Governor’s
restrictions are eased, we will move forward toward a more traditional
graduation for June 27th while working within the required social
distancing directives.
The district has contracted with a professional
videographer to create a high quality digital graduation video. The recording of this will be done on Friday,
June 19th. All seniors and
their families will be given instructions about that date, and it is imperative
that all attend at the set time. This
will only work well if all graduates participate, so please plan for some time
at school on that date. If restrictions
are not lifted, this video will be ready to be played at the normal graduation
time on June 27th via YouTube.
However, if the directives for gatherings change
between now and June 27th, we are poised to move toward an in-person
graduation for our seniors. We are working on several different scenarios for
an in-person graduation so that we can move quickly once we receive updated
guidance. While we cannot and will not
defy the directives given by the Governor, we remain hopeful that those
guidelines will ease between now and the end of the month.
Please know that we have ALL options on the table IF
we are given a go-ahead to gather. In
the meantime, this virtual graduation video is very important so please
participate on Friday, June 19th.
We want this video to be a great memory for all, regardless if we have to
celebrate virtually or in person on Saturday, June 27th.
Senior Class advisors will be working with seniors on
all the details.
Thank you for your understanding and support! We will
continue to work hard to honor our senior class.
Sincerely,
Timothy
