High School Concert Participated in a Music in the Parks Festival
On May 3rd, our High School Concert Band
traveled to Palmyra, Pennsylvania to participate in a Music in the Parks
Festival. They performed two pieces of music and received an adjudication from
two judges. The compositions performed included the Second Suite for Band by
Gustav Holst, and In All Its Glory by James Swearingen. Despite missing a few
key members, the group played very well, and received a rating of “Excellent”
and a First Place trophy. After their performance in Palmyra, the group had
some free time at Hershey Park. Our visit took place on “History Day”, so there
were also fun facts all over the park about the rides and about Milton Hershey
and the development of his company and the park! A good time was had by all…
Congratulations, GCS Band!
