Candidate Statements:
SAMANTHA HOWE:
Dear voters of the Greene Central School District,
My name is Samantha Howe, and I am seeking your help to obtain a 3-year term on the Greene Central School District Board of Education.  This election will take place on May 16th, 2023.  As a graduate of Vestal Central School district in 2013 and a recent resident in the Greene school district within the last four years, my goal is to bring a fresh perspective on helping the district grow for our children.
For a little bit about me, I reside in Smithville Flats N.Y. with my husband Timothy Rogers, my two sons;  Waylon (5) who is special needs and Colbyn (1).  I am also a stepmom to two twin boys Tanner & Trenton (9).  I am a full-time administrative assistant for the Raymond Corp.I have experience in the areas of Dairy farming, health care, contracting, and accounting/payroll.  In my free time I like to go camping with my family, play field hockey, help my father harvest crops and ride dirt bikes with my boys.
My vision if elected is to help resolve current contract issues for some of the most important people in charge of our children’s success in education.  I plan to apply my experience as a special needs parent to help voice the needs of our children to further develop programs for the entire spectrum of the kids within the district.  I plan to give them the best tools needed to obtain a proper education.  As a parent of a special needs child who will have to attend another school to obtain an education, I would like to see better programs brought into the district so we can lower the cost associated with outsourcing and foster growth within our own district.  I would like to help look for ways to improve the services like additional training of staff, grant funding, financing plus so much more.
I ask for your support with your vote on May 16th, 2023.  I welcome an opportunity to speak with you directly should you have any questions or concerns regarding my platform.  You can reach me by email at  [email protected] or by phone 607-205-4611.  I look forward to your help bringing back these vital needs for our district and for our children.
Sincerely,
Samantha Howe
DOUGLAS MARKHAM:
This is my 6th year on the School Board and I just feel that I still have an obligation to the School, students, Staff and community to fullfill.
EMILY RIGGS:
Running for the board is something that is important to me because I feel I have a lot invested in the district.  My husband and I have six children ages 13 down to 2.  As a mom I want to make sure my children and the children in our community get the best education possible.  It is also important that we make sure that there mental health is a priority as well.
If I am fortunate enough to have a seat on the board I look forward to working with the current members to ensure our children have the resources they need to succeed.
MARIA MCKOWN:
I have a strong commitment to public education.  I believe every child deserves a quality education, regardless of their background or future goals.  I am also committed to working with the community to build a strong partnership between the school district and the families it serves.  I believe we should all work as a team to create a better future for our children.  If elected, I will work tirelessly to advocate for our students and build a trusting partnership with our community.
