Ms. Schindler

Welcome to Living Environment (a.k.a. Biology)

We will cover the following major topics this year: Inquiry, Ecology, Biochemistry, Cells,Human Anatomy, Genetics, Evolution and Classification.  We will spend time seeing how these topics build upon each other and interact to create the world in which we live.  Students will use texts, lecture notes, activities and laboratory experiments to navigate through the material throughout the school year.

Please be aware that all students will have access to google classroom and quizlet.

There are 4 state labs that MUST be completed and accepted along with 30 total lab credits to be eligible for the regents exam in June.

About Ms. Schindler

Ms. Schindler is the Biology teacher at Secondary Campus since 2001. She has a B.A. in Human Ecology from College of the Atlantic.  Her Masters of Education in Secondary Science was earned at SUNY Cortland along with her C.A.S. Administrator degree in both Building and District Administration.  Ms. Schindler became a Master Teacher in 2018.
 
Ms. Schindler draws from her experiences to teach her classes.  She has worked for Acadia National Park, Allied Whale, Acadia Wildlife Rehabilitation, COA Summer Field Studies, Camp Northwood, and Cornell University.  She also draws from her numerous travels to enhance classroom teaching.  Ms. Schindler has traveled to 35 of the 52 National Parks around the US and several different countries.  She has taken students to Boston, the Galapagos Islands, Belize, Scotland, England, Wales, and Ireland.
