Dear Students and Parents
I hope you have enjoyed your summer, and spent lots of time with family and friends. School starts on Thursday, September 8th. The beginning of every school year is an exciting time. A tremendous amount of energy goes into this beginning, on the part of all of us – parents, students, teachers, and administrators. We all want to start it off right, to give students the best possible beginning to be successful.
Parent involvement is still very important at this age level. Your involvement sends a strong, positive message to your children. Although the ways in which you are involved may change, your child/children still need your involvement, and we need both your support and your feedback. I strongly encourage all of our families to come to our Middle School Open House on September 20, 2016, at 6:30. I also encourage students and parents to use our Home Access Portal regularly to check on grades, attendance and other important information. Our goal is to have 100% Home Access Portal participation. We will also have people available at the open house to assist you with adding the GCS Family App to your phone. This will allow you access to this information from any mobile device. Please, go to the district website for further information on setting this up or contact the Middle School Office if you have questions.

Grade Level supply lists can be found on the middle school website. If you would like a hard copy please feel free to stop into the main office between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. I also encourage you to visit our district website regularly for information and news regarding our school and district. You will find your schedule and homeroom teacher attached. Please, let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Please know that we highly value home/school communication. It is vital and plays an integral role in each student’s success. We encourage you to contact us if/when the need arises, and to stay in the know about your child’s studies, assignments, assessments, and school activities, as well as other events and happenings.
The middle school years are critical times of development for students and families alike, and I look forward to working with all of you to make this year successful.
