G.C.S. Board Election and Budget Vote - May 16, 2017

An election will be held on Tuesday, May 16th from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for eligible voters to decide who should fill three vacancies on the G.C.S. school board, in addition to voting on the school budget. One seat will be immediately filled following the election with the individual receiving the third-highest number of votes. That seat, vacated by Ethan Day, will expire June 30, 2019. (Mr. Day resigned effective March 3, 2017.)

The other two seats are currently held by Karen Hendershott and Timothy Crumb and their terms will expire June 30, 2017. Once filled, these two seats will follow the typical three-year term and will expire June 30, 2020.

Candidates who submitted petitions to run for these open seats are:

  • Jason Burghardt
  • Nicholas Drew
  • Douglas Markham

A public hearing to review the 2017-2018 school budget will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the evening of May 8, 2017 in the auditorium.

The PTO will hold a Meet the Candidates Night on May 9th, at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library.

VOTING QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE MAY 16 BUDGET REFERENDUM

In order to vote, a person must fulfill all of the following requirements:

1. Be a citizen of the United States.

2. Be at least 18 years of age.

3. Be a resident within the District for a period of at least

30 days next preceding the meeting at which he/she offers

to vote.
