Social Studies

In fourth grade, social studies focusses on New York State history.  This is a good time to have conversations with your child about places in New York that they have been and share what you know about local history.  Below is a list of general topics we will be focussing on each month.

September:  basic map skills

October:  review of local history

November: Iroquois Native Americans

December:  Algonquian Native Americans & early explorers of New York State

January:  New Netherland

February:  Colonial New York

March:  Revolutionary War

April:  Government

May:  Erie Canal & Civil War

June:  Immigration
