Preparing for State Exams
The New York State English Language Arts and Math exams for grades 3-8 have been shortened to two days each.  The dates that have been set aside for testing in our district is April 11-12 for the ELA exam and May 2-3 for the math exam.  Students have been working throughout the school year to practice skills needed to be successful on the exams.  For the fourth grade ELA test, being able to read rigorous texts, answer multiple choice questions, and write thoughtful short and extended responses using text based details are the necessary skills to succeed.  For fourth grade math testing, knowledge of number operations, geometry, fractions, and the ability to solve multiple step word problems are key to doing well on the exam.  If you are interested in knowing more about New York State's testing program, please visit the New York State Education Department's website.

About Me
This is my 18th year teaching at Greene Central School.  For 17 years I have been teaching third grade, and this year I have the opportunity to work with fourth graders. I am excited to learn a new curriculum and explore new things through the eyes of a fourth grader. It is a privilege to work with children every day and I am looking forward to this new adventure!
