    Greene Students Participate in Youth Symphony Orchestra

    The Binghamton Youth Symphony Orchestra presented a Spring Concert at 7 pm on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Helen Foley Theater, Binghamton High School.

    Under the direction of longtime BYSO conductor Barry G. Peters and associate conductor Elizabeth Bartlett, young musicians from more than twenty school districts performed a spirited program. This closing concert included Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakow’s Great Russian Easter Overture, Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story - Selections for Orchestra, arranged by Jack Mason, and Tchaikovsky’s Polonaise, from Eugene Onegin.

    Five students from Greene Middle and High Schools are current members of these two ensembles.

     
    Tennis Court Resurfacing
    The work on the tennis courts during this capital project is slated to begin around May 23rd with the nets and post occurring first and will be followed by the court re-surfacing to begin May 31st. Weather permitting the entire work on the tennis courts could be completed by June 10th. This entire area will be closed during this work. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time. 
    Results from the Budget Vote
    G.C.S. would like to thank everyone that voted on the budget and BOE member elections. The school budget passed 279-112. Please click on read more for full results.  
    May 18th BOE Meeting Canceled
    The Board of Education Meeting scheduled for May 18th has been canceled.  
    Greene Community Pool Update

    We are pleased to announce that work on the Greene Community Pool heating system has allowed us to begin to increase heat. Temperatures continue to rise and the pool will again be open for public use starting Monday, May 16. Normal hours and schedule will apply.

     
    Greene Students Recognized by American Heart Association
    Greene Intermediate School students participated in Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser through the American Heart Association. In our 11 years here Savannah is the first student ever to raise over a $1,000 for the American Heart Association. In our JRFH coordinators 9 years with American Heart Association Savannah is the 5th student in 12 counties and 532 schools who participate to achieve this goal. This was a pretty big deal.     Class of 2016 Valedictorian, Salutatorian and Superintendent's Award Recipient Announced
     Greene Central High School proudly announces its Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and Superintendent’s Award recipient for the graduating Class of 2016.  It is with great pleasure that the high school recognizes Kathleen Diane Hanrahan as its Valedictorian,  Kileen Marie-Price McLeary as its Salutatorian, and Alexandra Riley Thompson as its Superintendent’s Award recipient for the 2016 senior class. 
    The GCS Board of Education Announces Superintendent Search Information
    The Board of Education has announced its superintendent search process and calendar. The search process will be conducted over the coming months with input from all district stakeholders. 
     
    March 2016 Middle School Students of the Month
    It is important to positively recognize students for making good choices and decisions, and to showcase students as positive role models to other students in the building. We are proud to announce the students of the month for March 2016. 
    Biology Classes Take Field Trip to Cornell
    Ms. Schindler’s Living Environment class took a field trip to Cornell University on Tuesday, March 29th and Wednesday, March 30th to complete a DNA Gel Electrophoresis lab. The students had a chance to use college equipment and real DNA to perform a paternity test in order to understand how DNA is used in various court cases.

    Now you can access school information from mobile devices using the eSchoolPLUS Family app. Use the app to view attendance, classwork, class and activity calendars, and student grades. Also, send an email to a teacher by tapping the teacher's name. All of this from your favorite mobile device! 
    Sex Offender Information Alert
    The Greene Central School District recognizes that the safety of our children is a responsibility of the entire community. The school district occasionally receives notification from the Chenango County Sheriff's Department or other law enforcement agencies about convicted sex offenders who reside within our school district boundaries. Upon receipt of such notification, the district will notify staff members, place the information at each school/district office and post an information alert on the district homepage.
